7. How can the battery terminals be protected from corrosion?

Petroleum jelly applied to the battery terminals on a monthly basis should prevent corrosion of the cell terminals. Corrosion is created because of the dissimilar metals used on the terminal and connections which creates a small potential difference. This causes a small amount of material to be removed from one surface due to conduction.
